Course description – AutoCAD Electrical – Basic course

Electrical design with AutoCAD Electrical

Duration: 2 days

This course teaches the production of Electrical Schematic Drawing, Terminal Plan Drawing, Bill of Materials in various formats, Connection List reports and other associated reports using AutoCAD Electrical. We work up at least one project from a blank starting point, and include during this project the generation of new symbol elements. It is entirely practical, with a hands-on-approach and you will have your own professional CAD computer.

Content:
  • Introduction to the course and hardware
  • Overview of AutoCAD Electrical
  • Overview of screen layout including toolbars etc
  • Starting a new project, including look at project record card’s defining numbering and cross referencing formula’s
  • Starting a New drawing, including look at drawing record card’s defining drawing type
  • Defining Function and Location
  • Drawing Single phase and three-phase wires
  • Insertion of symbols and Function of components, including numbering of wires / components
  • Setting and numbering of terminals
  • Cross referencing of components and equipotentials
  • Manipulation of the Terminal Plan
  • Assigning catalogue and record information to items in the projects, including creating new parts
  • Creating a PLC drawing
  • Creating and testing new symbols
  • Customizing Title boxes.
  • Viewing some of the reports generated by AutoCAD Electrical.
Who should participate?
Everybody who are going to use AutoCAD Electrical or who are planning to acquire a CAD system for electrical design.
Qualifications
AutoCAD preparation course or some previous experience with AutoCAD. The course is aimed at Electrical Engineers who have good understanding of the electrical design process.
